| I am a firm believer that a child's
surroundings have a great impact on how they see life and what decisions
they make on the windy road to becoming an adult.
Take myself for example, as a child my dad was and still is a self employed car dealer, for as long as I can remember there has always been a couple of sports cars on the drive and that’s probably why I drive a BMW M3, my dad also has a mobile disco which has lots of flashing lights and a kick arse sound system. So to me it is not surprising that at the age of 20
years old I was a member of the Sound Challenge Association competing
in db drag racing, the car I used to compete with was a Golf GTI, the
sound system included top of the range alpine mids and tweeters and
16 x 12” JL subs, the cars personal best was 151.6db, that is
loud enough to be heard from ¼ mile away according to the complaints
received by my local police. In the year 2000 a plan was hatched, it had to be big, it had to be bold and it had to be better than its predecessor, the end result was ‘project 160’ Project 160 is a ford escort van with a sound system that could put some clubs to shame, the spec is massive as are the amount of man hours and money taken to complete this project, however the personal satisfaction knowing that I designed, built and own this vehicle is also massive, the sensation i get when I turn up all the dials whilst playing the bass mechanic can only be described as having your very own earth quake generator. A question I always get asked is how loud is it and the answer is loud enough to blur your vision, damage your hearing and make it hard to breathe. Project 160 is a vehicle that really can take your breath away!!!!!
